Your study sidekick for any webpage — live translation, dictionary, focus mode & more. Built by a teacher, for students. Layers — Translation & Study Tools for Students The Layers extension is a floating toolbar that lives on top of any webpage — so you never have to stop what you're doing to look up a word, translate a sentence, set a timer, or jot down a note. Everything is one click away, right where you're already working. Not sure how to say something in the lesson language? Hold a button, speak in your own language, and Layers translates your words instantly — in 46 languages. No more sitting in silence when you have a question. Type any word to see its full definition — pronunciation, part of speech, and an example sentence included. Look up words in 12 languages and get the result in whichever language you need. Switch to translation mode for longer text. Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Nepali, Filipino, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, and 38 more languages supported. A notepad that follows you across every website and saves every keystroke automatically. Vocabulary lists, key terms, questions for the teacher — nothing gets lost, even when you close the tab. A countdown timer and stopwatch students control themselves. Hit a quick preset (30s, 1m, 3m, 5m, 10m) or set any custom time. An alert sounds when it ends. ✏️ PAGE DRAWING Draw directly over any webpage. Circle important terms, annotate an article, underline anything worth remembering. Pen, highlighter, arrows, and shapes — undo at any time. One click blocks 60+ distracting websites — YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, and more — so you can actually get things done. Teachers can also activate Focus Mode for the entire class, remotely. Enter a room code once and you're in. Your teacher can push Focus Mode, lock internet access, block websites, and send links to the whole class — all in real time from the Windows teacher app. Alt+L — Show / hide the toolbar Alt+T — Push-to-talk translation Escape — Exit drawing mode YOUR PRIVACY, EXPLAINED • Page content — Layers never reads, logs, or transmits what's on your screen. This permission is only needed to display the toolbar on top of pages. • Storage — Your language preferences and notes are saved locally on your device. Nothing is sent to a server. • Microphone — Only active when you use push-to-talk. Audio is processed by Google and never stored by Layers.
