Gives you more control over Twitter and adds missing features and UI improvements Control Panel for Twitter is a browser extension for Twitter - its main goals are to reduce the amount of algorithmic content you see, give you more control over your timeline and make the UI less distracting. By default, your Home timeline will be the reverse-chronological "Following" timeline, which will only contain tweets and quote tweets from the people you follow. The algorithmic "For you" timeline will be hidden, and Control Panel for Twitter will keep you on "Following" if Twitter tries to automatically take you off it. Everything is configurable, so start by opening the options popup and customizing to your liking. GifsOnTumblr

Tumblr started (badly) converting GIFs to WebP, fucking up glitch art and making saving of GIFs even harder. This extension tweaks the dashboard to serve GIFs instead of WebP. Unfortunately your browser might download both. WARNING: pages with a lot of GIFs might be slow as a result. This is how GIFs are and I can't do anything about it.

Twitter Demetricator

Hides all the metrics on Twitter. The Twitter interface is filled with numbers. These numbers, or metrics, measure and present our social value and activity online, enumerating followers, likes, retweets, and more. But what are the effects of these numbers on who we follow, what we post, or how we feel when we use the site? Inviting us to consider these questions through our own experience, Twitter Demetricator is a web browser extension that hides the metrics. Follower, like, and notification counts disappear. “29.2K Tweets” under a trending hashtag becomes, simply, “Tweets”. Through changes like these, Demetricator lets us try out Twitter without the numbers, to see what happens when we can no longer judge ourselves and others in metric terms. With this artwork, I aim to disrupt our obsession with social media metrics, to reveal how they guide our behavior, and to ask who most benefits from a system that quantifies our public interactions online.
