Unofficial Jisho.org extension, to look up Japanese words and kanji on the fly Jisho.org is an online Japanese dictionary, Jisho On The Fly makes it accessible directly on the page. Select some Japanese or English text, then "right click > Jisho On The Fly > Look Up Definition" or on the keyboard "CTRL + SHIFT + Y" Kanji information includes: meanings, readings, JLPT level and strokes order. Select some text containing one or more kanji, then "right click > Jisho On The Fly > Look Up Kanji" or on the keyboard "CTRL + Y". Once you have looked up some kanji, you will be able to generate a printable practice sheet based on your history.
SKK Japanese Input
SKK implementation for ChromeOS Input Method API SKK Japanese IME that works on ChromeOS. The extension provides a custom IME (Input Method Editor) that allows users to input Japanese text using SKK on ChromeOS. SKK stands for Simple Kana to Kanji conversion program (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/SKK) and there are many implementations on various platforms such as DDSKK on Emacs, AquaSKK on macOS or fcitx-skk on Linux. The extension adds another variation of SKK to ChromeOS. After installing the extension, follow the steps below to enable the input method. 1. Go to Settings → Show advanced settings → Languages 2. Click on “Language and inputs” button 3. Click on "Add input methods" 4. Select "SKK(for [your keyboard layout])" 5. Click on "Add" 6. Click on "SKK" to switch the input method to SKK you added To load a dictionary file in skk-jisyo format, you can go to Options menu and input the URL of the dictionary file and click on "reload". The dictionaries are distributed on some public website. This ChromeOS SKK provides the basic SKK functionality. For the basic usage of SKK, please refer the documentation of other SKKs. Kanji Typer
Look up and input a kanji character via keywords and component names from James Heisig's "Remembering the Kanji". This extension allows you to quickly look up and input Japanese kanji characters into input fields on any website, or copy a character into clipboard. To search for a character, enter the character's keyword or a combination of its component names into the search bar, based on terms as presented in the well-known textbook series "Remembering the Kanji" by James Heisig. Fuzzy search functionality also allows you to enter only part of a keyword, or only a subset of a kanji's components, and then browse the list of matching results to find the desired kanji. To select a kanji character, navigate to it by pressing the 'Up' and 'Down' arrow keys, or by clicking on it's entry once. Press 'Enter' to insert the selected kanji into a field on a website at the current cursor position, or press 'Ctrl+c' to copy it into your clipboard. A double click on any entry, directly inserts the respective kanji into the input field. The keyboard shortcut 'Ctrl+Space' to open the extension popup can be changed in Google Chrome's extension management tab.
